Lexus gives the LS 430 a midcycle freshening for 2004. Along with mild exterior revisions, the LS gets a number of new standard features, including a six-speed automatic transmission (with a manual-shift gate), adaptive headlights that swivel during turning maneuvers, knee airbags for the driver and front passenger and a moonroof. New options include the Pre-Collision system, which uses radar to detect an avoidable collision, and prepares for impact by tightening up the seatbelts, switching to sport mode on air suspension-equipped vehicles and activating maximum braking pressure. Among the other highlights are SmartAccess, which allows the driver to start up the LS without inserting a key; 18-inch wheels as part of the Sport Package; and a rear backup camera, expanded voice recognition functionality and Bluetooth hands-free phone compatibility on vehicles with the navigation system. An upgraded Mark Levinson stereo now offers seating position-optimized sound, and satellite radio is a new dealer-installed option.

  THIS IS MY 5 LEXUS. NO BETTER CAR ON THE ROAD. I HAVE DRIVEN A MERCEDES AND IT DOESNT COMPARE TO MY LEXUS.

  this car beats Mercedes and BMW by far when it comes to reliability...it goes for ever if u deal it good ..I know a guy who has a 1991 LS400...he had 1,000,000 kms on it!!!!...and it is still working fine...however, I have to say that BMW is more fun to drive and Mercedes is still more integrated...but all in all...it is a 9/10 car...

  Our worst new car - 2004 Lexus LS 430

  This car has been a problem since we first bought it. Every temperature change causes the low tire presure light to come on and can only be reset by Lexus. The transmission was replaced by a recall notice as well as the fuel pump! Last month the switches in the drivers doors stopped working, it took Lexus 4 business days to replace it. By the way Lexus still does not have a software fix for the low tire presure light, so come fall we have to return to Lexus to reset it. Our next car is going to be a Toyota Avalon.

  2004 model follows our old 91 Lexus with 111,000 miles. So far, so good. Gets about 25 mi. per gallon.

  Because of a decline in Mercedes quality I traded my trouble proned E class for a new Lexus LS 430. Its a fantastic car! Only car Ive purchased in 35 years that had zero defects. Two months later , still zero. Love it.

  I caught a Porsche! A BMW 745iL! S500! Forget about Caddies and Stupid American Cars! It ride super smoothly, I cant believe its a car! Like youre cruising through a lake! It just consumes only 22 mpg however an S320 consumes like 20 to 22! My only little objection is if you could change the rear light style to a more sporty one. By the way, my girlfriends S600 with its V12 engine is worth about 65,000 GBP; why should we pay 28,000 GBP to get the Lexus tunning package of 590 BHP? And why should we have to pay 9,000 GBP for an AWD car!? Have you ever thought that its almost 7,000 GBP more expensive than the S600!? Come on men!

  Absolutely fabulous car. There are no words to describe how nice this vehicle is. Absolutely the best luxury vehicle on the road. I HIGHLY recommend it!
